Have you ever heard of a Twitter Moot? Probably not.
On Tuesday, February 21st, at 10:00 am PT (1:00 pm ET) the good folks at West Coast Environmental Law will be hosting the self proclaimed World’s First Moot Court on Twitter. Follow it using the hashtag #twtmoot.
How Will it Work?
Three judges and teams from five law schools across Canada will participate in a mock appeal of a recent precedent-setting environmental case, West Moberly First Nations v. British Columbia via Twitter.
The judges are:
- Noted lawyer and Law Professor Kathleen Mahoney of the University of Calgary;
- The widely recognized Lawyer Blogger Omar HaRedeye; and
- Lawyer, turned award-winning mystery writer, William Deverell.
The Twitter moot will see teams from five Canadian Universities – B.C., Dalhousie, Ottawa, Victoria and York (Osgoode Hall).
This is an interesting way to blend social media, law and legal arguments in front of a global audience… in 140 characters or less.
Will you be watching?
