Facebook is due to reach the highly coveted 1 billion user mark this summer, but have you heard about Twitter’s mind blowing growth? 894,000 people signed up for Twitter in the last 24 hours alone! Check out the neat graph I found on the Media Bistro blog:

Twitter will hit 500 Million users tomorrow around 3:45 pm ET according to AllTwitter. That’s half the user base of social media giant Facebook. Twitter’s growth is partly attributed to integration with Apple’s iOS and the new ‘Mountain Lion’ operating system. Facebook is noticeably absent from any Apple integration.
Twitter is also partnering with Yandex, a popular Russian search engine. Previously, Twitter had partnered with Google Search and now Yandex will have access to all of Twitter’s real-time information. This isn’t good news for Google Search as their results are based solely on Google+.
How does this information related to the legal industry you ask? Why should lawyers give a hoot about how many people are on Twitter and it’s recent growth? Because you should focus your efforts on where your potential clients reside. They might not be on Twitter but it’s worth taking a look. Grab a pen and pencil and jot down your top ten ideal clients and look for them online – you might be surprised.
