How To Target LinkedIn Company Page Status Updates For Maximum Reach

June 20, 2012 — 2 Comments

LinkedIn is the social network for professional business development.  With over 160 million members to date, it’s come a long way from the stagnant platform it used to be.  Remember the days without status updates or Company Pages?

The folks at LinkedIn must be busy because they rolled out a brand new feature.  Starting today, LinkedIn users can now target Company Page status updates to select audiences.  This feature is open to the 2 million companies that currently have LinkedIn Company pages.  If you haven’t set yours up yet, check out this great post by Natalie Waddell over at the Discover Canadian Lawyers Blog: How To Create an Impressive LinkedIn Law Firm Company Page and make sure you set yours up.

How to Target Your LinkedIn Company Page Status Updates

1. Go to your LinkedIn Company Page and input your desired status update and a link if necessary.

3. Here’s where the targeting begins.  Choose the company size, industry, function, seniority and geographic region you wish to target with your LinkedIn Company Page status update.  You will also notice LinkedIn tells you approximately how many people your status update will reach.

Targeted LinkedIn Company Page status updates were rolled out to a select few in April for private beta testing.  Philips was one of the lucky few and they saw an impressive 106% increase in engagement by followers after utilizing targeted status updates.  LinkedIn’s main goal with this new feature is to make it easier for page administrators to communicate with their page followers in a more personalized way.

Page administrators will also notice how easy it is to track the effectiveness of their efforts with a new follower insight page.  Test out sending status updates to different demographics and see what works, and what doesn’t.

Overall, targeted LinkedIn Company Page status updates is a great new feature for law firms to better interact and reach and interact with followers.  Test it out and let me know how it works in the comments below!
