Create your page. I’m not going to get into the details on how to create a page as the procedure might change (after each time Facebook changes a setting, etc.) At the moment I created a new page by searching for “pages”, selecting “Facebook Pages” and then pressing “+ Create Page”.
You will be presented with two options: Community Page or Official Page. Most law firms should choose Official Page. Fill in all the requested information.
One of the first things you will need to do is Manage your Permissions:
This is when you’ll have to decide if you’re going to:
- Make your page public;
- Have Country restrictions;
- Create Age restrictions;
- Decide if you will allow comments and how these will be displayed; and
- Decide which page will be the first people see when they first visit your site prior to “liking” your page. (I’ll post more on how to create a custom landing page later on).
(I’m skipping over Basic Information and Picture as that’s pretty easy). Decide on how you’d like to market your page:
I’d skip the “Advertise on Facebook” and focus primarily on the “Get a Badge” and “Add a Like Box to Your Website”. You may want to add one of these to your law firm website. My personal opinion would be add a small “Facebook” Icon to your website after your page has some content. The button should also match the look and feel of your firm’s website.
Stay Tuned for Part 3!
