I was inspired last night to write a blog post about the next big thing in social media and how it could relate to legal marketing. I struggled to come up with a new concept as what else could top blogging, tweeting, posting, etc.
One of the keys to success (at anything) depends on staying on the leading edge of whatever profession you choose. Further success can be attained by foreseeing what might come next.
I did some research online and it seems this question has been asked many times. The answers focused on Personalized relevant content. Most sites focus on social sharing. Techcrunch wrote “the key element of the next big thing is the increasing significance of the Interest Graph to complement the Social Graph”. I recommend reading the article as it explains this concept nicely. It basically says sites will deliver content based on the needs of a person at a specific point in time, sort of a serendipity concept. Sites such as Google, StumbleUpon are starting to do this.
I asked the same question on Twitter and came up with some great ideas. Justin Bracket said social glasses (very cool). Matthew Gallizzi said smartphones and completely new effective marketing methods thanks to social media/mobile changing landscape.
I’m still pondering this question and haven’t come up with a definite answer (yet). The next big thing will continue to focus on the consumer being in control and companies being transparent. It will be interesting to see what comes next!
What do you think?
