Does Your Law Firm Have a Mobile-Friendly Website?

law firm mobile websiteMore and more people are using their smartphones instead of traditional desktop computers to find and view websites.  Have you looked at your firm’s website on your smartphone? How does it look? What about your competition? You should also take a look at your site from a variety of smartphones as it can look different on each one depending on how your mobile site was created.

I recently read a post by HubSpot, The 20 Things User Want Most from your Mobile Site, and I thought you might find this information useful when making the case for your firm’s mobile-friendly website:

  • 96% of smartphone users have viewed websites that were not mobile friendly.  You can use tools such as Google Analytics to see how many people have viewed your firm’s website from a smartphone
  • 74% of users say they’re more likely to return to a website if it’s mobile-friendly
  • 79% of users who don’t like what they find on a mobile website will look for the desired information on another site.  This should be a big wake-up call if your competitors happen to have mobile-friendly websites
  • 48% of users say they feel frustrated and annoyed when on sites that are poorly optimized for mobile. 36% say they feel like they’ve wasted their time when they visit those sites
  • 76% of users want to get location or operating hours from a mobile site.  It’s imperative that your firm’s mobile site includes contact information, attorney bios, practice areas and maps/directions
  • 74% of users want mobile sites to look clean and efficient.  Remember, less is more
  • 76% of users want a business’ mobile-friendly site to fit the size of their smartphone’s screen. 64% said they want to only scroll up and down, not left and right.

I hope this post has inspired you to take a look at your law firm’s website from your smartphone if you haven’t done so already.  As I mentioned above, it’s important to find out if people are actually viewing your website from smartphones.  This information is free when using Google Analytics.

However, if you’re not getting a lot of traffic from smartphones, you may want to postpone this idea for now, but I’m sure it will come up in the future!
