How much time do you devote to your social media strategy? An hour a day? Couple hours per week? What kind of results have you had to date? What kind of results would you like to have?
If you’re new to the social media game I recommend you spend at least thirty minutes a day listening and watching. Open a Twitter account and follow lawyers in your practice area. Watch how they interact with their followers and do likewise – in your own style of course! Create a Facebook page for your firm and add relevant apps such as JD Supra, Networked blogs, Twitter, etc. Research and follow blawgers and see if blogging could work for you.
Add a reminder to your outlook calendar and don’t ignore it! It’s important that you do this research – don’t pass it on to an assistant or marketing professional. You need to understand how everything works before you can outsource repetitive or administrative tasks.
Social media can be perceived as complicated or a big waste of time if you don’t do the research. I’m confident you’ll “see the light” if you are diligent in your schedule. Let me know how it works for you! And don’t forget I’m always available for questions and comments. 🙂
